Wedding Week is officially here!

This is the week we have been waiting for.  We had an exciting day yesterday as Mary, Greg & Tim arrived in Austin.  We met Edwin & Chelsea at their apartment, had lunch together at Austin Java and checked into the house we rented for the week in Austin.  After dinner at a local Tex-Mex Restaurant, we played a game of the Settlers of Catan and then picked up Andrea, Adam & Brady at the Austin Airport.

Here are a few pictures of our day!

We stayed overnight Sunday night in Waco, Texas.  Tim drove us from Waco to Austin.
Waco = What A Cook Out!

The speed limit in both Oklahoma and most of Texas was 75 mph.  Although not as flat as Illinois, Texas from the Oklahoma border to Austin was basically flat with long, low hills.

When we arrived at Chelsea & Edwin's apartment we had some unloading to do.  We brought down most of the gifts from the  wedding shower this summer, Adam & Andrea's suitcases, Brady's car seat and miscellanious things needed for the wedding.

This is the house we are staying at this week.  This is view from the entrance door into the living room, dining area and kitchen.

Tim's room is on the first floor.

Nice to have these since we are here until Sunday.

Edwin and Chelsea stayed with us on Sunday.  This is the room they were in.  This becomes Lilian's room tonight.  On Thursday night Lilian and Chelsea will be here.  Edwin will be staying with Ross and David at the Austin Motel on South Congress on Thursday night.

Mary in the master bedroom.  This is Adam and Andrea's room.  Brady is sharing this room with them.  Brady has his own space in a large walk-in closet.  It is like another small bedroom.

Interesting that these migratory birds spend the winter in Austin.
They seem to follow us wherever we go.

Tim watched the Badgers loose to Oregon in the Rose Bowl while Mary, Greg, Edwin and Chelsea went grocery shopping.

Tim, Mary, Chelsea and Edwin mimmicking these patient migratory birds.  The birds didn't seem to mind they were being made fun of.

 Our house from the street.

We walked from the house to the wedding venue, Memorial Hall.  It was about a 20 minute walk.  Greg, Chelsea, Edwin and Tim.

Notice how green it is here.  We started seeing green south of Oklahoma City.  Edwin is re-enacting the marriage proposal.

Tim, Chelsea and Edwin by the bamboo that lines the street along Mercury Hall.

Mary had a revelation that bamboo fishing poles come from bamboo!  Imagine that.  Organic fishing poles!

We ate dinner at a local Tex-Mex Restaurant called Chuy's.  It is one of Edwin and Chelsea's favorite places to eat.  Tim, Chelsea and Edwin.

Road trip to Austin!

Hello faithful followers,

As you know our beloved Chelsea is marrying Edwin Ochoa this coming week.  We are very excited!  Tim, Mary and I are driving to Austin for the wedding.  Here are a few pictures of our trip so far.  We are currently at the Hampton Inn South in Waco, Texas.  We left our house on Friday, Dec 30 after work and headed to Madison to spend the night with Adam, Andrea and Brady.

Brady had to check out our van before we could leave Madison on Saturday morning, Dec 31.

We had to scrape the frost off our windshield before we left Madison.  Once again, Brady took charge of things and commandeered the ice scraper.

The happy road warriors about to leave Madison on December 31.  Notice we are bundled up against the damp and cold.

Brady felt they should take their van and come along too.

The fog was starting to lift as we left Madison.  It stayed hazy until we were well into Illinois.  We stopped for lunch in Oglesby, Illinois.

The highlight that Mary was most looking forward to on our trip to Austin was a stop at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Musuem.  Here Tim and Mary are discussing the events of the Civil War with Generals McCellan and Grant.

Greg and Tim posing for a picture with Abe Lincoln and his family.

We crossed the Mississippi River at St Louis.  Here we see the Gateway Arch as we cross the river.

We stayed Saturday night, New Year's Eve, in Rolla, Missouri.  Very uneventful night.  Mary and I were in bed by 9:00 PM and Tim shut out the lights at 10:00 PM.  We were gassed up and on the interstate at 8:02 AM.  You can see we had a beautiful morning and no traffic.

Mary was the first driver of the day.

Tim comfortably settled into the back seat.  Tim enjoyed the time reading.  you can see we had a few things with us in the van.  We shared the driving both days, usually going about 2 to 2 1/2 hours at a time.

We drove through the Ozarks in southern Missouri to start the day. We found a tasty place to have lunch in Barstow, Oklahoma at a retaurant similar to Taco Johns but better.  The restaurant was Taco Mayo.  It is a chain based in Oklahoma City.

 We made it to Texas.
